Misfortune is not enough

Just a week after Spain, Macau was my new challenge and the comeback to Kosmic Racing Department.

I was also the only Kosmic official driver on the line, where Tonykart brought all of his drivers, included the World Champion Ardigò and the Vice-World Champion Catt.

I was pretty confident and from the first practices I was on the top 3 of timings, I learn the new track and worked a bit on setup.

The feeling was pretty good and in the qualifing session I made a good 46”360, only 1 ten far from Ardigo's best time, wich granted me 3rd place.

In the 1st heat I reached the third position, after a tough battle that made me lose time and in the second one I fought hard for the victory with the English driver of Tony Kart, Catt.

In the prefinal, I started from the 3rd position but already in the 3rd lap I was leading.

I authoritatively led the race until a hundred meters from the finishing line, when a banal damage forced me to stop.

During the final, I exploited the set-up balance, avoiding to force the tyres, and from the start position (14th) I started to gain positions really fast, as in the 3rd lap I was already 6th.

The squared flag stopped my race when I was catching Catt for the podium, while he was in troubles with tyres, ruined by his forcing during the whole race.

The result could be even better, this is why I think with sorrow about it. Concerning my performances, I am very satisfied, everybody could see how I was competitive, starting from the free practices I always centred top lap times. The Team worked very well, I hope that next season we will go on working together.

El Vendrell - Password: misfortune

Unluck.

That's the only word to describe my Champions Cup.
To tell the truth, it has been a great weekend... till Sunday.

Fastest lap
in the free practice, 3rd in qualifing session, everything was promising well.

And indeed the first manche of saturday went very well, from the start, where I took the lead and leaded most part of the race pretty easily, till when I started a tough battle with Antony Abbasse (Sodikart), and finished 2nd, just administrating the race to take points.

Then it came Sunday... and with that, a terrible, implacable wind that from saturday started to push at the speed at about 120Km/h!

Some tent broke and in the morning the program was revised in order to permit everybody to repair damages to enviroment.

The sand brought by the wind changed literally the track, and our setup was not so good anymore, other teams revealed to be at ease in this unusual condition.

But anyway we were still on the focus to win.

At the start of the 2nd heat, the misdeed: starting from the front row, a piece of paper went into my airbox and has blocked the flow and with that the engine power.
Altmost everybody passed me and when I fixed the problem was nearly last.
So I started a furious comeback that permitted me to be 11th at the finish line.

In the 3rd and final heat, I was pretty determined to win, but the setup was still not perfect and after a tough battle I finished 3rd.

With the accumulated penalties I was 6th for the start of the Final, so it was still to see everything, but another time unluck came out.
At the start, a spark failure brought me from 6th to 20th, but anyway I managed to come up and in the middle of the race I was already 7th, but when I tried to overtake the guy in front, he involved me in a huge accident which caused extensive damage to the kart and forced me to retire.

I was pretty disappointed with what happened Sunday, I was definitely sure of my chances to win, but that's racing, you have allways to keep in mind.
